The Centre for Data Ethics and Innovation (CDEI) leads the government’s work to enable trustworthy innovation using data and AI, working on the most pressing issues in this space including: driving the adoption of AI by building a strong assurance ecosystem in the UK; unlocking the value of data in the economy by ensuring it is accessed and shared responsibly; accelerating innovation in cutting-edge privacy-enhancing technologies; and encouraging transparency about how and why algorithms are used across the public sector.
